How to choose the I-shaped inductor core?

2021-08-28

I-shaped inductors are plug-in inductors with high degree of automation, convenient installation, and small size. Compared with other large inductor products, they can occupy a smaller space.

Regarding the I-shaped inductor, it can be seen from the appearance that it is composed of a magnetic core and a coil. The magnetic core can be divided into three types: nickel-zinc magnetic core, manganese-zinc magnetic core and ferrite magnetic core. So how to choose the core of the I-shaped inductor?

One, determine the type of magnetic core

Different magnetic cores have different characteristics. For example, nickel-zinc magnetic cores have high surface resistance and are often used in high-frequency circuits; manganese-zinc magnetic cores have low surface resistance, high initial permeability, and high saturation magnetic properties. Flux density is generally used in circuits below 1MHz; the biggest feature of ferrite cores is high permeability, good temperature characteristics, and low attenuation. It is a high-frequency magnetic material.

Second, determine the diameter of the magnetic core

Gujing can determine which magnetic core needs to be used according to the environment in which the inductor needs to be used by the customer, and then plan the diameter of the magnetic core. There are three main situations:

①For the same wire diameter, if the diameter of the magnetic core is larger, the number of turns that can be wound will increase, and the inductance will also increase; Smaller, the DC superimposing ability becomes larger; ③The wire diameter and the number of turns remain unchanged, and the larger the magnetic core diameter, that is, the larger the cross-sectional area, will increase the inductance, enhance the current capacity, and increase the internal resistance.
